Protecting Your Personal Information

The Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information gives you the following rights:

  • Under the Act regarding the access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information, you have the following rights: Respect for the privacy of your personal information; 
  • Access to documents held by public bodies and to your personal information;
  • To rectify your personal information if it is incomplete, inaccurate or equivocal, or if its collection, communication or retention is not authorized by law.

As part of our activities, we handle the personal information of our citizens, employees and visitors on a daily basis. As such, we recognize the importance of respecting privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information we hold.

Personal information about you is information collected directly or indirectly from you. Any information obtained by third parties is excluded from the portability right.

When you provide us with personal information, regardless of the means used, you must ensure that you have read the current Municipal Policies, since once provided, you consent to our use and disclosure of this information as indicated in these policies.

Deadlines

A public body has a maximum of 20 days to respond to a request, from the date of receipt. An additional 10 days may apply if necessary.
