Permits and Certificates
To ensure compliance with its planning by-laws, the Municipality requires a permit or certificate of authorization for most projects undertaken by a citizen.
It’s also a way for the Municipality to monitor land-use planning.
Obtaining a permit or certificate of authorization allows you to:
- Locate appropriate uses and structures.
- Perform safe work that complies with municipal standards.
- Avoid errors that may jeopardize the safety or legality of a project, which could result in avoidable costs and inconvenience.
A permit or certificate of authorization allows you to do:
- Construction
- Renovation
- Tree cutting
- Pool installation
- Fence, wall or hedge installation.
- Excavation or backfilling work
- Etc.
